Efficient nickel and copper-based catalysts supported on modified graphite materials for the hydrogen production from formic acid decomposition

چکیده

Ni, Cu and Ni-Cu catalysts supported on high surface area graphite were synthesized by incipient wet impregnation. Also, the effect of doping support with alkali oxides (Li, Na K) was studied. The tested in formic acid decomposition reaction to produce hydrogen. bimetallic catalyst doped K showed best catalytic performance 100% conversion at 130 °C a 95% selectivity turnover frequency (TOF) follows order: Ni-Cu/K > NiCu/Na Ni-Cu/Li. While order for apparent activation energy values is: Ni-Cu/Li Ni-Cu/Na Ni-Cu/K. mechanism is approached programmed temperature (TPSR) experiments attenuated total reflectance (ATR). greater activity potassium ascribed lower stability formate, bicarbonate carbonate species its surface.
